things you should read, monday mornin- wait, afternoon edition

If you haven't been following Campaign for Southern Equality's We Do movement, let me just say, if you enjoy tearing up in the workplace, watch some of these videos. Or browse around A Letter to My Kid for a while. God, is it dusty in here or is it just me?

The always-delightful Left-Handed Cartoons (written by right-handed people) knows the truth about you.

Mental Floss, you bitches are clever. Also from MF is this PARADIGM-SHIFTING PIECE about where hiccups come from. Air bubbles on the diaphragm my ass. MY MOTHER LIED TO ME! First Santa and the tooth fairy, now this? WHERE DOES IT END, MOM? WHERE DOES IT END???

This is a really cool project that a New York group is doing, wherein teenagers make sex ed PSAs. Sure, the sound is mixed weirdly so that the music blares a bit, but it's pretty cool that they're doing it, and the PSAs are actually pretty good.

This is the best NYT correction of all time.

The crack team over at Reddit tackles the issue: HOW DO YOU SPOT A FEMINIST BEFORE YOU TAKE HER TO DINNER AND SHE TRIES TO PAY FOR HALF, I MEAN WHAT IS THAT, and are rightfully lampooned by ManBoobz.

Let's all take a moment to remember that sometimes, Obama does the sort of thing he promised to do. Let's also take a minute to remember that there's a good reason why we have three branches of government, and that presidents are not the be-all-end-all of lawmaking. Guys. High school government classes. Are there not enough of these? Are people sleeping through them?

As some people might say, only in New York, but I kind of feel like this is more of a thing like, only in a place where a girl would carry a ukelele home from yoga and grocery shopping.

MF also did this awesomely quotable list of 119 facts for National Trivia Day. One of my (many) favorites from the list: "2. On Good Friday in 1930, the BBC reported, “There is no news.” Instead, they played piano music."

Are you reading YoIsThisRacist? You should be. It's hilarious.

After watching the first episode, I'm very excited for House of Lies, though I'm not sure how I'll be watching it, since I don't have cable. ANYWAY there was this piece on Racialicious about it, it was pretty good.

EDIT: My god, Mental Floss. My god. Have you all added the MF RSS feed to your readers? Do it now.
